Personal email account
What is a personal email account?
For employees of the University of Bamberg, as well as for individuals working at the University of Bamberg as visiting scholars, visiting lecturers, or in similar capacities, a personal email account based on Exchange will be set up upon request. The request must be submitted at the same time as the application for a personal user account.
The available storage space for your email account is limited to 4 GB by default. If necessary, the storage space can be increased by 2 GB. To do so, please contact the IT support staff (it-support(at)uni-bamberg.de).
Email addresses for personal email accounts are automatically generated using the format firstname.lastname(at)uni-bamberg.de.
Any correspondence sent to this address is addressed to you personally. When someone sends a message addressed to you, they do so in the confidence that you (and only you!) will receive and read it.
This means that it is in your own interest and in the interest of your correspondents that no one other than you can access your email account. To access your email account, you need your personal BA number and your password.
The confidentiality of your electronic correspondence is only guaranteed if no one other than yourself knows the password for your username (BA number).
Your personal email account is always linked to your personal user account (BA number and password). To access your personal email account, simply use your login credentials: your BA number and the corresponding password.
