Theses
Capacities and Deadlines
I am very pleased about the strong interest in writing a thesis at our chair. However, due to limited supervision capacity, I am currently only able to supervise two additional theses.
Before contacting me, please carefully read the following sections “Criteria” and “Preparation”. Please contact me regarding a potential future thesis only afterwards.
Criteria
Please note that I will only consider a supervision request if
- it contains one or more ideas for a thesis topic
- your motivation is clearly evident
- you outline your previous experience in relation to the topic
- the topic fits in with my main areas of research
Preperation
You can find how to's on the topic of thesis preparation here.
Optional
Step 1: Set aside an hour to research relevant papers on your topic idea.
Step 2: Spend 5-10 minutes on each paper and
- carefully read the title, abstract, and introduction,
- read the section and subsection headings,
- read the conclusion
- and decide whether the paper really fits your idea.
Step 3: From the collection of papers that actually fit, choose one that you will read in its entirety. Take an hour to summarize the main theses and findings of the paper.
Step 4: In addition to your supervision request, send me the paper and your summary, as well as your reasoning as to why it fits your topic idea.
